Three teams selected every month of the season

The OMHA and CoachThem are excited to reveal the winners of the OMHA Team of the Month for March!

The program is aimed at recognizing minor hockey teams in the province making a positive impact on the ice and in their communities who demonstrate all of the positives that hockey has to offer.

This award isn’t about going undefeated during the month or scoring hat tricks, it’s about stories of teamwork and perseverance, leadership and being good role models in and around the rink. We want to hear the stories of food drives, helping a teammate, making new friends and having fun!

Three teams will be selected every month, with each coach receiving a CoachThem prize pack. These are the final Team of the Month selections for the 2023-24 season.

Niagara Falls U12 A: This amazing group of 17 kids have been working hard at every practice to develop and learn from the incredible coaching staff that surrounds them and believes in them. The coaches work hard each and every week to help these players discover who they are as individuals and how to demonstrate responsibility, teamwork and respect for others (including the referees). But it isn't all about hockey for this group of players, they recently teamed up with Community Crew a local charity to donate snacks and messages of hope for kids without lunches in their local community. Kids helping Kids!

Lindsay U11 B: This team has a great group of kids and coaches. This team works so hard right til the very last second of every game. They never give up! These kids came from all different teams last year most of them having never played together. They are proving to them selves and each other that they are gelling as a great team, working hard together on and off the ice. They worked hard early in the season to collect food for the local food bank and won the competition collecting over 2000lbs of food. Now they are winning more games, making great come backs and cheering each other on. Such a great group of kids. Who can’t wait to conquer the rest of the season together. Go Muskies go!

Whitby U13 AA: The team recently visited the Peterborough Humane Society between games at a Peterborough tournament. The boys and their families dropped off donations from the “animal shelter wishlist” that were in high demand. The team got the chance to tour the facility, and meet some furry friends at the shelter. They also learned about humane education and supporting the animals in their care. One of our players’ family was so touched by the visit, they adopted a dog from a local shelter. This was a wonderful team experience giving back to a local community.
