26 OMHA Players Chosen in OHL U18 Priority Selection

Fourth year in a row an OMHA player selected first overall

The fourth annual OHL Under-18 Priority Selection draft wrapped up Wednesday afternoon for Midget-aged players to be selected by OHL teams.

For the fourth year in a row, the first overall pick was used on an OMHA player. Kevin Henstock from the Oakville Rangers was selected by the North Bay Battalion, joining Aidan Spooner (Kingston Frontenacs), Mitchell Weeks (Sudbury Wolves) and Victor Hadfield (Barrie Colts) as players chosen with the top selection. In total there were eight OMHA players selected in the first round.

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association had 26 players from 13 teams picked. The Whitby Wildcats led the way with four players chosen followed by the Ajax-Pickering Raiders, Guelph Jr.  Gryphons, North Central Predators and Oakville Rangers each with three. The draft lasted two rounds with a team receiving a third round selection if they chose a goalie within their first two picks.
