OMHA Announces Minor Midget AAA Top 5 Rankings Presented by CCM

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released the eighth edition of the Minor Midget AAA Top 5 Rankings Presented by CCM for the 2014-15 regular season. These rankings will be released on a bi-weekly schedule. The Red Devils continue their red hot streak. Averaging just shy of 5 goals a game in the regular season Quinte remains the cream of the crop. Nipping at the Red Devils heels are the boys from Peterborough. Going unbeaten in their last 10 games the Jr. Petes find themselves hanging in at the second spot. Rounding at the top five are the Halton Hurricanes, Barrie Jr. Colts and newcomers to the scene, the Guelph Jr. Gryphons.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Carson might be one of the most physically effective players at this age group. He dominates the corners, hits hard and is very strong on his skates.  When he wants to take the puck to the net it is hard for the opposition to stop him. In addition, his skill level and compete level are both very good. He is one of the reasons why the torrid Jr. Colts have won 6 in a row and now sit first in the Eastern Triple A West Division. In those six games, the hard-nosed forward has contributed 8 points.

Blacker is a stud on the backend for the 45’s and has all the tools; skilled, smart, rarely makes mistakes, and a great skater for his size. He is the ‘beat keeper’ on the backend for his team. The 45s are unbeaten in their last two games, in addition to his solid play, Blacker has accumulated two points in these games.

Hancock is the straw that stirs the drink for the Jr. Frontenacs. His skill level is elite, he is rangy with the puck, competes hard, finishes his check and creates a lot of offence for his team. Hancock was in fine form prior to the Holiday break, scoring five points in his last two games.
