OMHA Teams Play for OHF Championships

Teams representing the Ontario Minor Hockey Association [OMHA] will challenge for provincial gold at the Ontario Hockey Federation [OHF] Championships

Teams representing the Ontario Minor Hockey Association [OMHA] will challenge for provincial gold at the Ontario Hockey Federation [OHF] Championships. A total of five teams participate at each of the thirteen OHF Championships. These teams include the host team plus the champion team from the Alliance, Greater Toronto Hockey League [GTHL], Northern Ontario Hockey Association [NOHA] and OMHA divisions.

Burlington will represent the OMHA at the Atom A division tournament taking place in Vaughn at the Al Palladini Community Centre, April 11-13. The Eagles qualified by winning the OMHA Championship in three straight games over Orillia.

The Atom AA Championships will be held at the John Rhodes Community Centre, April 11-13 in Sault Ste. Marie. The Burlington Eagles will also represent the OMHA after a strong defensive effort in the OMHA Championship finals.

Hamilton will host the Atom AAA Championship April 11-13 at the North Wentworth Arena. The Junior Bulldogs will be in tough against a strong Burlington Eagles team who were crowned OMHA Champions in March.

The OMHA Champion, Barrie Jr. Colts will head to Grimsby, site of the Peewee A Championship April 11-13. The Grimsby Peach Kings will look to avenge an early Semi-Final exit in OMHA Playdowns.

The Pewee AA event will kick off in Woodstock as the Barrie Junior Colts represent the OMHA. Having lost only two games throughout the OMHA playoffs the team from Barrie looks to cap off a great season with an OHF Championship.

In the Peewee AAA division the Markham Waxers will head to Ottawa April 7-9. A strong offensive team all year, the Waxers netted 143 goals for in just 34 regular season games on the way to an OMHA Championship.

The Amherstburg Stars are in Woodstock, April 11-13 for the Bantam A Championship. Having lost only two games since February 15th the Stars look poised for an OHF Championship.

The fourth Burlington team to represent the OMHA in an OHF Championship this season comes in the Bantam AA division. The Eagles were in tough all the way through the OMHA Championships but prevailed defeating Halton Hills, Oakville and Belleville on their way to hosting the President’s Trophy.

The Quinte Red Devils will put their stingy defense to the test as they head to Stratford for the Bantam AAA division. The team allowed just two goals against in the AAA Championship and will look to their strong defense and exceptional goaltending to add an OHF Championship to their list of accomplishments in 2014.

The Amherstburg Stars look to continue their winning ways as they represent the OMHA in the Midget A division when the head to Timmins April 11-13. 

The Orangeville Flyers will represent the OMHA in the Midget AA category which will be held in Vaughn. The OMHA champs have played strong of late, sweeping the final two series three games to none to qualify.

The Markham Waxers will host the Midget AAA division championship starting March 31 at Markham Centennial Arena. The Waxers look to bounce back from a third place finish at the OMHA AAA Championships, while the OMHA Champions from Ajax-Pickering will look to add more hardware to their already impressive season.

The Ajax Knights will head to Scarborough Gardens April 11-13 for the Juvenile OHF Championships after going undefeated in OMHA Playdowns.
