The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released the second edition of the U16 and U18 AAA Top 5 Rankings presented by Hudl for the 2023-2024 regular season. These rankings will be released on a bi-weekly schedule.

The Jr. Colts hold on to the top spot while the Red Devils rise to enter the Top 5.

Maddox Dagenais (Quinte Red Devils): Is a handful for opposing defenders. He has good size and has excellent poise with the puck, as he is able to play along the boards and with players on his back. He knows how to drive play inside, getting off the boards well and he attacks between defenders well, creating a lot of quality scoring chances. For his size he has soft hands, playmaking ability, and a good accurate shot that makes him equally dangerous as a goal scorer or set-up man. 

Ethan Kindree (Halton Hurricanes): Competes all over the ice and he pushes the pace whenever he is on the ice. Loves to move his feet and attack off the rush. He pushes back defenders well and can utilize the time and space to locate open seams or shooting lanes. Kindree anticipates well in the offensive zone, locating loose pucks and gets to open areas in behind defenders so he can get excellent scoring opportunities. Off the puck, he tracks hard and looks to create quick transition opportunities. He will drive a lot of offense for his team this year.

A big shakeup as two new teams enter the conversation of Top 5 but the top two hold steady.

Justin Handsor (Barrie Jr. Colts): Big stay at home D but is showing he has skill and can play both ends of the ice effectively. Strong kid that always makes his presence known on the ice, with big hits and clearing out of the front of the net. Handsor logs a lot of minutes, as a key penalty killer and also the QB on the powerplay. Gets his shots through to the net and makes a lot of smart simple plays and can find some seam passes to create nice chances. Skates well both ways and goes stick on puck well if he doesn't have a opportunity to be physical. The leader and driver for a strong start for the Barrie team this year.

Jake Salvatore (Southern Tier Admirals): Excels at applying pressure on opponents when he has the puck, disrupting plays and creating turnovers. He is strong in battles for the puck along the boards and in tight situations. Additionally, he demonstrates an effective ability to drive towards the opponent's net, creating scoring opportunities and putting pressure on the opposing defence. Known for his relentless work ethic and high energy level, he consistently contributes on both ends of the ice. His excellent shooting skills make him a significant offensive threat, showcasing accuracy, power, and quick decision-making with the puck. As the captain of his team, he leads by example, and his on-ice leadership qualities are strong, earning the respect of teammates.
