Small area game that teaches switching from offence to defence
Description
Small Area Game starts with 4 players partnered up in the middle of the neutral zone - O1 vs. X1 and O2 vs. X2.
Each pair has a puck.
On the whistle, each pair starts to play 1-on-1 by trying to score by shooting/passing the puck at one of the pylons.
After 15-30 seconds, blow the whistle to reset.
Players will reset in the middle of the neutral zone with one puck.
On the whistle, 2-on-2 begins (O1 and O2 vs. X1 and X2).
Key Points
"Players will need to compete in a game like scenario.
When the drill becomes a 2-on-2, players will need to read and react off one another by getting open for a pass or staying on the goal side on defence.
Gain puck possession from the other team and maintain control.
Use strong skating and puck protection skills.
This game is great for U9 & Below to teach team tactics and transition from offence to defence but can be used by all ages to reinforce concepts and provide a small area competitive scenario.
