The extremely successful and popular school format provides NEW Officials with an opportunity to acquire officiating skills and rule knowledge while completing OMHA and Hockey Canada certification requirements. The intensive, action-packed agenda features classroom instruction including audiovisual presentations, as well as on-ice training.
In operation since 1995, the school program now encompasses 3 locations across the OMHA West - Windsor; Central - Guelph and; East - Trenton. The schools have grown to the point where they now attract officials from across the province.
The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and Force Sports, sponsor of the OMHA Referee Program, will once again host three centralized Referee Schools to train and mentor new officials. The schools will run the weekend of September 26-28 in Trenton, Guelph and Windsor. This year the Guelph School will celebrate their 20th year of providing new officials with the start of their officiating experience.
Information specific tro each School location is listed below along with School Registrar contact information.
For new Officials or those interested in getting started, contact your local Minor Hockey Association to confirm a need for new officials, when games will take place and how this fits your schedule.
