Hayton, Bouchard, Dellandrea lead newest draft class

The OMHA is very proud of its 17 alumni who were chosen in the 2018 NHL Draft over the weekend and are now one step closer to their NHL dreams. The eight forwards, seven defencemen and two goalies look to make an impact in the next phase of their hockey dreams.

With 31 players selected from Ontario, which led all provinces and states in draftees, this represents over half of the draft class from the area. For comparison, the next highest region, Quebec, had 14 players chosen. The 17 OMHA alumni represent nearly one quarter of all Canadians selected and more than the country Finland, which sat fifth overall with 16 total players chosen.

Player development during the formative years of a child's time in minor hockey is important in creating a long-term passion for the game. Making a positive experience for all players involved in the game helps build a lifelong love of hockey.

We wish all of our alumni the best of luck in their futures on and off the ice.
