Teams are inching themselves ever closer to getting themselves a shot at #RedHats.

Playdowns are happening all across the OMHA and every bracket is close to the Semifinals stage. The exciting action on the ice is filled with the anticipation of moving on to the next round but the key is taking it game by game. Players have their eyes on the prize. Here are some of the teams to keep an eye on as the CCM Teams to Watch in Playdowns.

Novice East A – Owen Sound Jr. Attack

The Jr. Attack like to keep games close and can hang in any game which is crucial this time of year. Being able to squeeze ahead of opponents in one-goal games is one of those intangible skills that helps build the foundation of a team. If there’s an area for concern for this group it’s their frequent trips to the penalty box. It’s a bad habit they’ll have to curb as they progress through Playdowns as they wouldn’t want to lose because they beat themselves.

Novice West DD – Norwich Knighthawks

Watch out for the Knighthawks, a team that can light the lamp early and often making it tough for opponents to catch up. When the Knighthawks get a lead they like to make it comfortable for themselves, rarely taking their foot of the gas. If they can keep the momentum rolling in the Semis, it could be hard to stop this group from Norwich.

Atom CC – Walkerton Capitals

This team was solid throughout the regular season but seems to have found another gear for Playdowns. The Capitals have risen to the occasion throughout Playdowns but will need to find a way to break games open as the competition gets tougher the higher they advance. They work hard on both ends of the ice.

Peewee B – Kincardine Kinucks

After dropping the first game in their quarterfinal matchup, the Kinucks rallied off three straight wins to punch their ticket to the next round. This team battles for every goal no matter at home or on the road and the close contests keep it exciting for everyone involved. Kincardine also lost their first game in their preliminary round and don’t want to find themselves in a hole early by losing Game 1 again.

Midget BB – Pelham Panthers

The Panthers are coming off a thrilling winner-take-all match to advance to the Semis. This is a strong unit defensively and teams will have to be thankful for scoring against them. A strong second half of the season has translated well into Playdowns success.
