It’s the most exciting time of the season and some teams are making noise at just the right time.

Playdowns are happening all across the OMHA and every bracket is close to the Quarterfinals stage. It’s been another great year of Playdowns hockey where anything has proven to be possible. There are plenty of OMHA teams to keep an eye on across the province and are just some of our CCM Teams to Watch in Playdowns.

Minor Atom AA – Caledon Hawks

Going undefeated in Playdowns so far is impressive enough but the way the Hawks have gone about it makes it even more so. A consistent offensive presence, the Hawks always seem to be a step or two ahead of their opponents no matter how many goals they’ve given up. As they progress through Playdowns, the team will need to tighten up defensively but so far, so good for this group from Caledon.

Atom AE3 – Collingwood Blackhawks AE3

The Blackhawks are in for a tough series against a highly skilled Napanee Stars team but are battle-tested entering this matchup. They score enough to win the game but what is most impressive is their ability to hold off opposing teams on the defensive end. Expect each game in this series to be decided by a single goal, and the Blackhawks have already shown that’s perhaps where they are most comfortable.

Peewee CC – BCH IceDogs

The underdog group from BCH showed they can score at will against opponents higher than them in the standings. The preliminaries served as a good test for what’s to come and even if they drop a game, it won’t be because of lack of scoring. Everyone enjoys a Cinderalla story and BCH could fill that role in this bracket. After winning their final five games of the regular season, the IceDogs continue to roll.

Bantam B – Ingersoll Express

The Express are a lethal group on offence and are rolling through after the regular season. However, the Playdowns are a different animal and so far the Express have added a renewed focus on defence to their game. It won’t be easy to put them away teams that keep pace with them will make a tough matchup.

Midget DD - Drayton Defenders

The Defenders came through in a winner-take-all Game 5 in the preliminaries round and look to carry that momentum forward into the quarterfinals. They’ve shown that they can hang with any opponent and are rewarded for their efforts on both ends of the ice. Drayton will be a tough out and opponents can’t take them lightly.
