Teams are beginning to find their groove but the true tests still lie ahead in the coming weeks. Here is the fourth edition of the OMHA Minor Midget and Midget AAA Rankings powered by Under Armour.

Minor Midget AAA Rankings

A strong two weeks from the Express, Rangers and Colts keep them in the top three spots in the Minor Midget Rankings. However, big contests loom ahead in the next few days for those clubs as the Express and Colts are set to face off for the first time this season while the Rangers visit the fourth-ranked North Stars with each team looking to make a statement.

Players to Watch

Kylar Watson (North Central Predators) - A smart player who plays to his skill-set. He is not the biggest player on the ice, so he relies on smart positional play and shows a good ability to anticipate the game. With this anticipation, he is able to pick-off passes and create turnovers. When Watson is in an offensive zone, a defender has to close out his space, otherwise he will put himself in a position to use his excellent wrist-shot and slapshot that goalies have trouble reacting to. With his work ethic, he will be a tough one to contain.

Zach Terry (Oakville Rangers) - A defenceman with a lot of tools he can rely on. Firstly, his size. He is a bigger player on the back end that uses his size effectively, allowing him to separate forwards from the puck with timely checking and positioning. Secondly, Terry has good mobility, and he moves his feet well in offensive zone to open himself up as an option or to walk the puck along the blue-line looking to set-up his shot. Lastly, he has poise when he plays. He has the ability to calm things down defensively and make a reliable first pass.

Midget AAA Rankings

There has been plenty of movement in the Midget Rankings because of the tight competition in this age group. The North Stars picked up a big win against the Rangers to jump over them in the rankings while the Waxers are picking up steam on a six-game winning streak after two losses to open the season.

Players to Watch

Andrew Galante (Clarington Toros) - Galante has started his 2017-2018 season exactly where he finished off last year: steady between the pipes and ready to give the Toros a chance to win every game he takes the ice. Galante is a goalie who strives on great positioning and excellent rebound control. With his calm demeanor in net, it is no wonder he once again is posting great numbers. Look for Galante to be a staple in the crease for the Toros this season.

Liam Silva (Halton Hurricanes) - Silva is a small, energetic forward returning to the Hurricanes for a second year. After leading them in most offensive categories last year, Silva is poised to do it again for another season and has put the SCTA on notice early. While he is not the biggest player on his team, Silva always finds his way to open areas and has scored big goals for the Hurricanes early this season. What is most impressive about his game however, is his commitment to the defensive zone and his relentless attitude in battling on the boards.
