The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released the third edition of the Minor Midget and Midget AAA Top 5 Rankings Powered by Under Armour for the 2017-2018 regular season. These rankings will be released on a bi-weekly schedule. The second edition of the rankings can be found here.

With the season now in full swing, here's what the rankings look like.

Minor Midget AAA Rankings

Players to Watch

Logan Morrison (Guelph Jr. Gryphons) - A forward strong on his skates and whose speed can close in on defencemen quickly. His tenacity allows him to create a lot of turnovers. Morrison's hockey sense can then take over when he has the puck on his stick. He can make a skilled play to generate space for a shot or to create a passing lane for one of his line-mates. His energy and work ethic are great attributes which rubs off on his team.

Nolan Burke (Peterborough Minor Petes) - This forward has good hands and doesn't seem to lose a step when carrying the puck. He can change directions quickly and keeps defenders on their toes. Without the puck he has a sneaky stick, creating turnovers and quick strike opportunities the other way. When Burke has the puck on his stick, he can skate around the perimeter looking for a pass that will slice through defenders. When he finds himself in alone on a goalie, he can finish, making him a priority for other teams to defend.

Players to Watch

Dalton Bancroft (Quinte Red Devils) - The Quinte forward is off to a hot start and has hit the scoresheet in every season game the Red Devils have played so far. Bancroft is a hard working forward who wants the puck on his stick every time he is on the ice. Bancroft excels at finding the open man in the offensive zone and has a sense for where all of his teammates are on the ice. His skill set is not limited to playmaking however, as when given the opportunity Bancroft will finish around the net.

Brayden Krieger (Guelph Jr. Gryphons) - The highly skilled center is a welcomed addition to the Gryphons this year and the catalyst to a fantastic start they have had so far in the young season. Leading the team offensively, Krieger is a threat to make something happen every time he steps foot on the ice. While his speed is evident, what catches his opponents off guard is his speed with the puck. Krieger is as dynamic as they get in Midget hockey and someone the Gryphons will keep relying on if they stay at the top of the SCTA.
