There were plenty of informative Association Leadership Workshops over the weekend of the AGM that we want to share with our members.

The aim of the workshops is to inform associations of resources and best practices to apply to their own areas. Presentations are done by leaders in the hockey world and open up discussions on bettering the hockey experience for those involved in hockey communities.

If you were unable to attend a certain workshop or are looking to review your notes from a specific seminar, they have been made avaliable for download below.

Communication between an association and its members is key in ensuring a smooth registration process. This seminar answers some of the most frequently asked questions and covers a number of different registration topics. All players and association are involved in registration and this is a seminar that will help ensure complete compliance of registration data.

Following the announcement of the Hockey Canada mandate for cross-ice/half-ice hockey for players at the Initiation level, this seminar explains the rationale for the decision and how this will impact programming moving forward. The OMHA continues to work closely with our associations to deliver resources and best practices for coaches and administrators to create the best possible programing at this critical entry point in the player development pathway.

How can local minor hockey associations attract new members to the game?  Learn about available programs from Hockey Canada and how to leverage programs and best practices for growing the game.  Associations share innovative approaches to growing the game and attracting new participants.

This presentation delves into the responsibilities of an association during a conflict and review how to deal with various issues that may arise throughout the year. It reviews the OMHA Code of Policies and Procedures, including the responsibility for Local Associations to ensure Policies and Procedures are in place to address complaints.

The Head Trainer Program focuses on this role in your Association, and is designed to provide leadership and support for team trainers in the Local Association. An extension of this support is the ACTION clinic, which is designed to supplement online learning for trainers.
