Novice Central AE1 – Orillia Terriers and Whitchurch-Stoufville Clippers
These two rivals have been battling for top spot all year in the York Simcoe League standings with a number of games decided by just a single goal, proving that every goal matters in Playdowns. They each keep games very close and this series has been no different. You know the team that moves on has earned their spot after this highly entertaining matchup.
The Blades don’t have to worry about not scoring enough goals. They struggled during the regular season but have absolutely caught fire during their Playdowns run, beating top teams along the way. They’ve surprised all Playdowns and certainly show no signs of slowing down.
Peewee B – Lambeth Lancers and Penetang Flames
Both teams are undefeated in Playdowns but one of them will have to come out on top as they meet in the Finals. The Lancers and Flames both boast strong defences so it will be interesting to see which team can gain an edge. This could be a series that ends up coming down to who can get more puck bounces going their way.
The success of the Tigers could come down to which offence shows up for the team. They have an incredible ability to light the lamp but like all teams it can disappear for a game or two. The margin for error in Playdowns is very slim and the Tigers certainly know this.
These Knights have been battle tested throughout Playdowns. They are a strong group on the defensive end and balance it out with an offensive attack that keeps them in every game. Their series looks to go down to the wire but the Knights have proven they are up for any challenge.
