The 2016 OMHA Annual General Meeting is less than a month away and we are excited to announce some of the exciting leadership seminars and presenters that will be present at the event.
Every year, delegates from across the OMHA meet to discuss the past year’s accomplishments, challenges, initiatives and more. During these meetings, amendments to OMHA By-Laws and Regulations for the upcoming season are also addressed.
If you are interested in having your voice heard, register to become a delegate at the AGM or sign up for a seminar.
The guest speakers for the dinner on Friday June 10 have also been announced for the AGM: Serge Savard and Ken Dryden of Team Canada 1972. They will relive and share stories and memories of the iconic eight-game series against the Soviets, one of our Nation’s finest moments. Comprised of some of the best hockey talent in the world, Team Canada defeated Team USSR 4-3-1 in the thrilling eight game series. One of the most memorable goals in hockey history occurred in the deciding game, with Paul Henderson finding the back of the net in the final minute of play. This team remains one of the greatest assemblies of talent ever created.
Serge Savard: One of the best skaters to ever suit up for the Montreal Canadiens, Serge Savard won the Stanley Cup eight times as a player and twice as the general manager. In 1969, he became the first defenceman to ever win the Conn Smythe trophy. He is also a four-time All-Star. The creator of the ‘Spinorama’ was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1986.
Ken Dryden: A six-time Stanley Cup winner and a five-time Vezina Trophy recipient, Ken Dryden was also named a first-team All-Star five times during his decade-long career with the Montreal Canadiens. Dryden is also a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and his #29 was retired by Montreal. After his playing career, Dryden was elected to Parliament, representing York Centre from 2004-2011.
