Bulldogs Regain Top Spot

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released the seventh edition of the Minor Midget AAA Top 5 Rankings for the 2013-14 regular season.  After relinquishing the top spot for the first time this season last week the Hamilton Bulldogs have regained number one this week.  Whitby drops slightly to number two, while the Southern Tier Admirals continue to make a push and have worked up to the third spot.  Clarington and York Simcoe take the fourth and fifth spots respectively.  The same five teams have stayed in the top five for the third straight week.

Players to Watch:

Ryan is a player that has bounced between forward and defense this season.  Recently he has been playing on the back end for the Express and has been anchoring the defense core for the team.  DaSilva has an OHL ready shot and uses it whenever he can from the blue line making him a scoring threat.  He is a two way defenseman that is able to jump into the rush and find quiet ice as the third man high.  He hits hard and makes wingers pay the price for coming down on his side of the ice.  Ryan has 10 goals and 21 points so far this season.

Jack is another strong two way defenseman in the ETA this season.  Captain of the Wildcats this season, he is a sturdy reliable type of player that any coach would love to have on his team as you can use him in any situation.  Hanley makes crisp hard outlet passes to his wingers and is very hard to knock off the puck and win battles against as he is so sturdy and strong on his skates.  Jack is a big reason for the success of Whitby this season and will be counted on heavily heading down the stretch drive.

Buch is a player that the more you watch play the more you appreciate how good of a player he is on this Bulldogs team.  He has a very high hockey IQ and plays a solid two way game in the middle of the ice.  Jacob is very strong on draws and shows a gritty side that scouts love.  He has a strong knack for drawing opposing players to him before dishing the puck to his team mates.
