Three teams selected every month of the season

The OMHA and CoachThem are excited to reveal the winners of the OMHA Team of the Month for January!

The program is aimed at recognizing minor hockey teams in the province making a positive impact on the ice and in their communities who demonstrate all of the positives that hockey has to offer.

This award isn’t about going undefeated during the month or scoring hat tricks, it’s about stories of teamwork and perseverance, leadership and being good role models in and around the rink. We want to hear the stories of food drives, helping a teammate, making new friends and having fun!

Three teams will be selected every month, with each coach receiving a CoachThem prize pack. Use the form at the bottom of the article to submit your team's story!

Millbrook U7 Gold: The team sponsored a family through the Children's Aid Society for Christmas this year for 3 kids and their parents. After practice this morning, the team wrapped up and organized Christmas gifts to deliver to the local family. It's a great example of the community that hockey can bring and how inspiring this team has been!

Brampton U11 AA: For the month of December our wanted to give back to the community in a way that showed love and compassion. Our team came together and organized a Teddy bear toss. All funds raised ($1618.90) are being donated to the Brampton William Osler NICU. All the bears (155) that were tossed on the ice are being donated to Safe Centre of Peel. This was an incredible fundraiser that got our team involved in the community while supporting 2 great causes.

Oshawa U16 BB: In December, our team hosted a Rivals game against the Peterborough Petes U16BB team, which provided the perfect backdrop for our partnership with Pangea Inclusive Support. Together, we collected Christmas stockings and essential goods for Community Living Oshawa-Clarington (CLOC).

CLOC is committed to promoting voice and choice by creating opportunities for meaningful inclusion and well-being for people with developmental disabilities and their families.

At the game, Pangea set up a drop-off location and successfully gathered boxes of donated items from players and their families. Our team members also stepped up to help distribute these goods. Beyond this initiative, the boys will be taking on mentorship roles with younger players in our organization, helping them grow both on and off the ice.

This team has a strong core of players who have consistently worked to give back over the years. They believe that hockey isn’t just about the game—it’s about building community and making a positive impact.
