The OMHA and CoachThem are excited to reveal the winners of the OMHA Team of the Month for December!

The program is aimed at recognizing minor hockey teams in the province making a positive impact on the ice and in their communities who demonstrate all of the positives that hockey has to offer.

This award isn’t about going undefeated during the month or scoring hat tricks, it’s about stories of teamwork and perseverance, leadership and being good role models in and around the rink. We want to hear the stories of food drives, helping a teammate, making new friends and having fun!

Three teams will be selected every month, with each coach receiving a CoachThem prize pack. Use the form at the bottom of the article to submit your team's story!

South Simcoe Storm U11 AA: In the month of October our team collected a large amount of food to support both Bradford and Innisfil food banks. November so far our team has raised $3045 for Hockey Fights Cancer. The team's next initiative is a toy drive for the month of December.

These kids are hard working, kind and connected. They believe in picking people up. In my years as a hockey parent so far, I have never seen a team so connected, willing to help each other, willing to help others and their ability to overcome challenges. It’s truly special to be a part of this team.

Tri-Centre Attack U16 A: This group of kids volunteered at the local foodbank. They worked and they listened about the struggles local families are facing. They rose to the challenge and held a fundraiser and raised $2577.10 for the food bank. They made a difference!

Caledon Hawks U16 BB: This team has been together for several seasons and have improved year after year. which has mirrored their work in the community. Our first goal of 500 lbs. of non-perishable food was three years ago and we hit new targets of 100 lbs. to this year's record of over 1650 lbs. They have shown hard work on and off the ice.
