The OMHA and CoachThem are excited to reveal the winners of the OMHA Team of the Month for November!
The program is aimed at recognizing minor hockey teams in the province making a positive impact on the ice and in their communities who demonstrate all of the positives that hockey has to offer.
This award isn’t about going undefeated during the month or scoring hat tricks, it’s about stories of teamwork and perseverance, leadership and being good role models in and around the rink. We want to hear the stories of food drives, helping a teammate, making new friends and having fun!
Three teams will be selected every month, with each coach receiving a CoachThem prize pack. Use the form at the bottom of the article to submit your team's story!
Guelph Gryphons U11 A: The team has had an outstanding start to their season. Even more impressive than their play on the ice has been their commitment to giving back to the community. They recently organized a used toy drive in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association – Waterloo Wellington (CMHAWW), and also took part in a community cleanup day at Bulldog Pond Park with Eco Heroes. Next, they’ll be hosting another toy drive and now have partnered with the 53rd Annual Guelph Power Play Tournament on the weekend of November 21–23. They’re also creating a Remembrance Day video to thank our true heroes for their service. This is just the start for these fine young gentlemen!!
Stirling Blues U11 B: In September our team did a “Give Back Fundraiser” and we raised a total $2415 for the Terry Fox Foundation. We did the walk/run together as a team & incorporated it into our Dryland training! We grew as a team, worked hard & even better, raised money for a good cause!
Kingston Canadians U12 A: Our players understand the privilege they have to be able to play competitive hockey. Each year we find ways to give back and support our community members in need. For the month of October the U12A Kingston Canadians used their hockey bags to canvas their community and collected over 17 hockey bags full of non perishable food, final weigh in was over 850lbs!!! All food and monetary donation were given directly to Kingston Partners in Mission Food Bank.
Please note previous submissions are still eligible throughout the season. You do not need to resubmit every month.
