Builds good habits for zone entries and communication

Description

  • Forwards at all 4 ends of the blue line, pucks at opposite sides with the Defenceman split up in the middle along the boards.
  • Two Coaches will be in opposite corners with pucks.
  • To begin a Coach will blow the whistle and the first side will start (Blue). F1 and F2 will start with a 2-on-0 at their own end.
  • After a shot is taken. The players will then look to transition up ice where D1 will come into the drill.
  • Coach 1 will pass a puck out to the curling F2 and begin skating up ice with F1 curling on the other side. They will play out a 2-on-1 to the other end for a shot.
  • As the players are crossing the blue line F3 (line diagonal to the coach in the corner) will begin to skate towards the coach looking for an outlet pass from them.
  • After the 2-on-1 has finished, D1 will step out of the drill and F1 and F2 will curl and transition back up the ice joining F3.
  • As all three forwards begin coming back down the ice, D2 and D3 will join the drill and play the forwards on a 3-on-2 to the net.
  • After a shot is taken the coach will blow another whistle and the other set of forwards (Red) will start again with a 2-on-0 and then receive a pass from Coach 2 and transition up ice.
