Players need to be vocal and make tape-to-tape passes

Description

  • Both X1 skaters will start with a puck.
  • On a whistle both players will skate towards the net and shoot
  • They will then turn towards their respective lines and begin skating up the ice. both players will begin to cut across the ice and receive a pass from X2 in motion.
  • X1 then continues his skating path back to their original end of the ice and take another shot and rejoin the line.
  • After both the X2 skaters have made their passes they will skate up the ice across the top of the circles and receive a pass from the next player in line. (shown in green)
  • The drill then becomes continuous.

Key Points

  • Making tape to tape passes
  • Ensuring we are focused and paying attention to know when you are passing and who it it going to.
  • Also making sure players are curling low when receiving the pass to simulate supporting the puck in a game.
  • Players should be vocal and call for passes during this drill to encourage more communication on the ice.
  • Players making passes should be skating towards their target. Encourage players to stand still and pass
