U16 and U18 AAA Top 5 Rankings presented by Hudl

Let's see where the dust settles after two OMHA AAA Showcase events, with teams from the East Conference facing teams from the West Conference.

U16 AAA Rankings

An exciting Showcase event saw the top teams square off as they continued to build momentum from their strong starts to the season. Based on how the year has begun it looks like there will be movement each Rankings.

Players to Watch

Blake Munnings (Quinte Red Devils): Will be a big minute muncher this year for Quinte. This is because not only can he play in all situations, he excels in them. Munnings skates well so that he can get to pucks quickly on his retrievals, allowing him to get his toes pointed up ice and break pucks out with efficient first passes. He is also a solid defender as he eliminates time and space with good gaps and stick detail. Inside the offensive zone he uses good lateral movements and deception to open up excellent passing and shooting lanes to exploit.

Aleksandr Sementsov (Halton Hurricanes): It's hard to contain him as he has a big motor and is always keeping his feet moving. Sementsov is a quick skater that loves to attack the zone with speed. When skating with the puck, he doesn't overhandle, rather he uses his teammates and is excellent at finding them in good areas. He doesn't stop there, as he will then attack open space and look to get the puck back in a better position. This shows as he always gets chances in dangerous areas. With this mix of I.Q., speed and skill, he will be responsible for a lot of goals for his team this year.

U18 AAA Rankings

A strong group of teams continues to jockey for position in the Top 5. One or two big weeks can make a case for teams to move up as others try to hold onto their spots.

Players to Watch

Layne Gallacher (Ajax-Pickering Raiders): A competitive, skilled player who continues to take steps in the right direction in his U18 season. Gallacher is one of the top play drivers in his loop and a big factor in the hot start of the Raiders this season.

Jonah McCormick (Barrie Jr. Colts): A heavy, aggressive forward who plays a power game. McCormick competes hard and is the leading scorer on the Jr. Colts who sit just behind the Top 5.
