The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and Desjardins Insurance are teaming up to sponsor over 400 hockey teams across the province this 2024-25 season. Each team will be provided with $600 in direct funding in exchange for putting a Desjardins Insurance patch on their jerseys.
The funding received can help offset some of the costs that occur during the regular season such as registration, tournament fees, and other expenses.
“Supporting the Ontario Minor Hockey Association aligns with our commitment towards supporting youth and healthy lifestyles, and the OMHA does just that – they strive to build team spirit and self-esteem for young players,” said Björn Bruschke, Vice President of the Insurance Marketing Division at Desjardins. “Being involved in local communities is important for us, and hockey is a big part of what brings families and communities together in Canada. We are looking forward to helping youth get active and have fun on the ice this year.”
“We are excited to partner with Desjardins Insurance for this program that helps reduce the costs of the game to hockey families,” said OMHA Executive Director Ian Taylor. “Through the jersey patches, teams and families know they are being supported in helping to make the sport more affordable for everyone.”
The program is open to eligible House and Local league teams of any age. Teams will be contacted by their governing body with information on how to register for the program.
