Drill of the Week: 1 vs. 1 - Chase

Can be used as station based drill or small area game

This Drill of the Week created on CoachThem can be done as a small area game or station-based drill.

Description

  • Drill starts with X passing to O.
  • After X makes the pass, they give chase and try to catch O.
  • O skates around the net and a pylon above the top of the circle and drives to the net to take a shot.

Key Points

  • Good first pass.
  • Quick starts and feet from both the chaser and puck carrier.
  • The puck carrier needs to read and react to the chaser and know where the forecheck is coming from.  
  • Quick hands and feet around the pylons. 
  • Players should focus on keeping the toes of their skates on the ice when turning the net and pylon.
  • This drill can be used as a Small Area Game or a station within a Station Based practice.
