Showing appreciation for the pillars of minor hockey

Off the ice or on, whether you see them or not, there is an extremely dedicated group of parents and volunteers who keep minor hockey in motion and ensure the best experience for the kids who play the game. From February 27th to March 5th, the OMHA wants to thank everyone who spends their time to enrich the lives of kids through hockey.

We recognize the impact that volunteers have in delivering minor hockey across the province, from Association administration to managing a team. From working with municipalities to schedule or ice or ensuring players are registered for the season, to organizing community Hockey Gives Back events to creating a carpool schedule, these things all add up in the big picture. Associations rely on a few to do the work of many.

Thank a Volunteer Week will be highlighted through volunteer video profiles, motivational tools showing the volunteer experience, and material-sharing for associations to call out submissions of thanks. Among the highlights include the reveal of this year’s OMHA Development and Administrators Award winners, as well as the Coach of the Month for February.

Volunteers are an extremely dedicated group of parents, community members and administrators that give their time to ensure a positive minor hockey experience for our young athletes. The OMHA takes great pride in having an outstanding group of volunteers across its centres.

TAKE A MINUTE, FOR THOSE WHO GIVE HOURS

Take a minute to recognize the dedicated few, in your community.

Parents, players, bench staff, administrators and officials are all eligible to submit stories of the volunteers in their communities by using the hashtag #OMHA and tagging our accounts (Twitter and Instagram). For those using Instagram stories, you can also add the Thank a Volunteer Week sticker by searching 'OMHA'.

Not only will we feature their story, but it helps let them know just how much you appreciate what they do.
