The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released the third edition of the U16 and U18 AAA Top 5 Rankings presented by Hudl for the 2022-2023 regular season. These rankings will be released on a bi-weekly schedule.

U16 AAA Rankings

The Jr. Colts re-appear in the Top 5, which shows just how competitive these teams are. They will need to play well in order to keep their spots on the list.

Players to Watch

Jaiden Newton (Whitby Wildcats): Plays a full 200-foot game. He is relied upon to play in all situations and he has excelled in this. Newton puts pressure on opposing defencemen well on the forecheck. He takes excellent routes and plays physical to create turnovers. When he gets the puck on his stick he has already used his high IQ to know where his teammates are to make quick passes. He also possesses an excellent release, so goalies will have to be aware when he's in a shooting position.

Kaleb Dietsch (Southern Tier Admirals): A big imposing D-man that forwards do not want to go up against off the rush or in the corners. Dietsch skates well for his size and with his reach he can stop the attack early. He is a consistent passer who makes his outlets passes hard and follows up the play well. Has a hard heavy shot from the point so he can create some good chances net front when he gets shooting lanes.

U18 AAA Rankings

The top teams remain locked in, and they are establishing themselves as the ones to beat this season.

Players to Watch

Jaxon Gawel (Grey-Bruce Highlanders): A second-year 2005 who is a leader by example both on and off the ice. One of the hardest workers in the league, Gawel uses his 5'11" frame, physical maturity and strength to be an effective player in all zones of the ice. As a pass-first playmaker he makes his linemates a threat on the ice on every shift and is one of the best 2-way forwards playing U18. He is a great character player who is a role model for his first year teammates as he prepares for his rise up the hockey ladder.

Dylan Woulds (Peterborough Minor Petes): A 6'2", 200 lbs LD who has brought the entire package to the Petes this season. Plays hard in all areas of the rink and has great transition skills to be a great offensive defenceman (tied for team lead with 4 goals in 10 regular season games). Woulds initiates breakouts with a great first pass and has a huge offensive upside with his offensive instincts and ability to join the rush. He also is a great defender and is mature beyond his years.
