Continued learning will serve longtime coaches and those new behind bench

Earlier this fall, the OMHA and The Coaches Site collaborated on a contest for one lucky minor hockey association to receive a free group membership to The Coaches Site. This would grant an entire association’s coaching staff access to a large database of drills, skill progressions and leadership lessons from some of the top coaches around the world. The contest brought entrants from over 70 organizations, with Brampton Minor Hockey being selected as the winner.

The OMHA and The Coaches Site met with Glenn McIntyre, General Manager of Brampton Minor Hockey to celebrate the win and discuss how the association can leverage the platform to create a positive hockey experience for their coaches and players.

“It’s very important for us to have qualified coaches. Ensuring they’re prepared for practice and are educated on what skills to teach and how to teach them will set the players up for success” said Glenn McIntyre, the General Manager of Brampton Minor Hockey. “The more information we can supply our coaches with, the better off our organization will be, without a doubt.”

“Our goal is to support coaches at all levels in providing an A-plus experience for their players,” said Stephen Evans, Director of Customer Success at The Coaches Site. “With team leadership playing such a large role in a player’s experience, we aim to empower coaches to learn with development resources that are educational but also engaging”.

The partnership will serve both longtime coaches and those new to being behind the bench.

“We have to continue to find ways to engage and support all of our coaches. Continued learning and education is so important for us to put a better product on the bench and on the ice,” said McIntyre.

“In featuring content from a wide network of coaches, we hope to provide a fresh perspective and share modern ideas that can enhance an experienced coach’s toolkit,” said Evans. “For those new to the game, we want to make hockey more approachable and ensure coaches feel confident in teaching skill development and creating a fun environment for their players.”

With more resources supporting Brampton Minor Hockey’s coaching staff this season we look forward to following the progression of their players and program throughout the year.
