Chatham native Craig Lane was acclaimed as President at the 2022 OMHA AGM and will serve a two-year term in the role.

Lane started in minor hockey over 30 years ago as a volunteer in his local Association. Over the years he held various positions such as convener, board member, by-laws officer, Vice President and President. From there, he went on to become a league representative, to eventually the local Regional Director for the OMHA for the region. On the OMHA Board of Directors, Lane held several committee positions and eventually became the Vice President - Western District.

What are you most looking forward to as President?

I am looking forward to getting some sense of normalcy back into our sport after the past two years of COVID. I hope to get everyone to think outside the box to move our great game forward. We will also need to extend our game to newcomers to assist in growing the game in Ontario.

What have you learned in your time as a Regional Director and Vice President?

Patience is a virtue. This is so true with dealing with so many different personalities within the hockey community. We all need to be patient so we can assess and make the best decision that will affect everyone involved.

What are some of the initiatives you are excited to work on?

I am looking forward to getting everyone on the same page as far as hockey is concerned, to understand that both House/Local League and Representative programming are intertwined and you can't have one without the other.

What is your closing message to parents, players and participants?

As we move forward with the upcoming hockey season, lets remember that hockey is not just a competitive environment, it is an environment to foster developmental growth in our young individual in our communities. This growth will allow our young hockey players to become great citizens in our communities.
