Off the ice or on, whether you see them or not, there is an extremely dedicated group of parents and volunteers who keep minor hockey in motion and ensure the best experience for the kids who play the game. From February 28th to March 6th, the OMHA wants to thank everyone who spends their time to enrich the lives of kids through hockey.
This season, more than ever, we recognize the impact that volunteers have in delivering minor hockey across the province. They found new and creative ways to offer hockey in a safe way during COVID-19 throughout the pauses and starts. It speaks to the love they have for our game and the benefits it provides to our children.
To kick off Thank a Volunteer Week, the recipients of two awards have been announced in recognition of their years of volunteerism in minor hockey: 2022 OMHA Patricia Hartley Administrators Award winner Jeff Hassim (Garden City - Kiwanis) and 2022 OMHA Excellence in Development Award winner Ken Cadeau (Coldwater).
Take a minute to recognize the dedicated few, in your community.
Parents, players, bench staff, administrators and officials are all eligible to submit stories of the volunteers in their communities by using the hashtag #OMHA and tagging our accounts (Twitter and Instagram). For those using Instagram stories, you can also add the Thank a Volunteer Week sticker by searching 'OMHA'.
Not only will we feature their story, but it helps let them know just how much you appreciate what they do.
