Byfield, Perfetti lead newest draft class

The OMHA is very proud of its 14 alumni who were chosen in the 2020 NHL Draft this week. The eight forwards, four defencemen and two goalies look to make an impact in the next phase of their hockey dreams.

Player development during the formative years of a child's time in minor hockey is important in creating a long-term passion for the game. Making a positive experience for all players involved in the game helps build a lifelong love of hockey.

We wish all of our alumni the best of luck in their futures on and off the ice.

For the second time in his blossoming hockey career, Byfield led the OMHA in a draft class. He was the top pick in the OHL Priority Selection in 2018 going to the Sudbury Wolves and is now a member of the Los Angeles Kings after being chosen with the second overall pick. Combined with his World Juniors gold medal, it's been quite the year for him.

Perfetti was an important member of the Whitby Wildcats team who captured #RedHats during their U16 season. He is consistently an offensive threat and that was highlighted throughout the first season of Home Ice, a behind the scenes look at his team.

Rounding out the first round for OMHA alumni is Tyson Foerster. He shot up draft boards this year, emerging with his hometown Barrie Colts after growing up playing with the Barrie Jr. Colts. He will now don the black and orange of the Philadelphia Flyers.
