"I skate to where the puck is going to be, not to where it has been."

Simple words spoken by Wayne Gretzky decades ago have been used in countless practices since. Oftentimes players can overthink the game, removing instinct and creativity for safe plays. Advice can be timeless and still ring true years later.

People in leadership positions are looked to for guidance and how to act by example. They are put in a role where they are sought advice from and have the power to influence with their words and actions. As seen with the Gretzky quote, a player may carry your advice with them for the rest of their time playing hockey.

Coming across advice for hockey doesn't always have to be about the sport specifically. A lot of it is how you apply yourself and the effort you put forward to seeing results. This can apply to anything you do in life.

What's the best advice you've ever received in hockey? Here are some of our favourites on how to approach the game.
