The Rankings remain unchanged in the final edition. At this point of the season it's about fine tuning and building momentum heading into playoff weekends.

Players to Watch

Madden Steen (Guelph Jr. Gryphons) - A strong two-way defender that plays with an edge. Steen is a presence on the ice no matter what zone he is in. Defensively, he uses his size and strength effectively to separate players from the puck. He will work hard in battles and can clear the front of the net well. When Steen moves up the ice, strong passes and breakouts are routine. Inside the blueline, he uses smart movements and a heavy shot to create a lot of scoring chances for his teammates and often produces several goals for himself as well.

Ryder McIntyre (Ajax-Pickering Raiders) - A power forward, but one that has a good touch with the puck and a great hockey IQ. He is tough to contain when he gets into full stride while carrying the puck. McIntyre has a good reach, he is strong on his skates, and uses his body to shield the puck well. When he is attacking the offensive zone, he is aware of his options and knows how to open up ice to find his teammates or when to drive the net or create a shot for himself.

The competition remains tight as the season enters its final weeks. There are a number of contenders in this age group and it seems almost a guarantee that it will go down to the wire.

Players to Watch

Joshua Kavanagh (Peterborough Minor Petes) - An extremely poised defender with offensive upside that every coach would love to have on their team. The right shot D is great on his first touch on the puck in all three zones of the ice. He can break a forecheck both by moving the puck quickly up the ice, or he can make the opposition miss with a nifty head fake. In the offensive zone, he is most dangerous on the blue line in between the dots. Kavanagh finds shooting and passing lanes with ease which makes him an extremely effective quarterback on the power play.

Samuel D’Amico (Niagara North Stars) - The captain of the North Stars has been steady for them all season long. He brings excellent work ethic and tremendous leadership qualities to the rink every night. Using his footwork and good stick-on-puck defending, opponents are rarely able to have clean zone entries while he is on the ice. When the puck is on his stick, he makes simple and effective plays to help his team get on the attack as quick as possible. Look for D’Amico to be leaned on at key times for Niagara down the stretch.
