It's hard to believe that 2019 is nearly over. There have been so many memorable moments in the hockey world - from the St. Louis Blues winning their first Stanley Cup to five OMHA grads being named to Team Canada at the World Juniors - and the best part is we get to do it all over again next year.

Here are some of our favourite articles that we published this past year. Thank you being avid readers over the last 12 months and we will continue to share helpful, informative articles in the coming year.

SUPPORTING BELOW THE GOAL LINE FOR SCORING CHANCES

Time and space are at a premium in today’s game and manipulating the feet of defenders is a key way to create space. Playing behind the net in the offensive zone provides another opportunity to expand the zone and maximize space. Using the full offensive zone forces the defence to account for what's happening behind the goal line.

The Video Coach series presented by Hockey Intelligym reviews a video clip from game action and then breaks down the sequence into frames identifying key skills, individual and team tactics, strategy and hockey IQ.

NO LAPS, NO LINES, NO LECTURES

It started with the question - are we doing what’s best for our young players to achieve success? Change can be tough to go through. There's a comfort in what's always been done. You sometimes need patience to see the results. It's been 10 years since USA Hockey unveiled its American Development Model (ADM) for the betterment of the sport to keep kids in the game and help ensure every kid will have a chance to succeed. It worked - and here's how.

DEAR PARENTS: GIVE HALF-ICE HOCKEY A CHANCE

A Hockey Mom wrote a letter to her fellow hockey parents explaining how her family turned into believers of half-ice hockey.

"Do you know what my son loves most about hockey games? Being involved in the game: touching the puck, passing, and yes, taking shots .So, was I annoyed at not keeping score? Sure, at first. But when I started to really watch my child and I saw skill development that I didn’t see in his older brother, and I saw joy after every game, even if they were ‘out-performed’ (since they didn’t lose :)) that annoyance began to fade."
