Players know first-hand the commitment needed to succeed at a high level on the ice and in the classroom.
The OMHA is proud to partner with the Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) to present the Bursary Program which provides minor hockey players recognition of their outstanding commitment to:
The OMHA Bursary Program is comprised of two awards – the Dairy Farmers of Ontario Bursary and the Wally Scott Bursary. It reflects the achievements of young hockey players who are committed to their community, athletic ability, and academic achievement. Each recipient will receive financial support towards their post-secondary education. Bursaries will be issued to the applicant’s post-secondary institution.
Five DFO Bursaries will be awarded at $8,000 each and up to two Wally Scott Bursary recipient(s) can receive between $1,000 and $2,500.
“MilkUP is a program that aims to educate, inspire, and motivate teens to build a strong nutritional foundation with milk,” said Sean Bredt, Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer at DFO. “It is important we shape the next generation of leaders, both on and off the ice. The bursary program will recognize outstanding young athletes who live DFO values of hard work, integrity, honesty, care, passion and tradition.”
“Just like in the classroom, hockey teaches players the necessary life skills of time management, dedication and teamwork,” said OMHA Executive Director Ian Taylor. “The Dairy Farmers of Ontario share our beliefs on the importance of a good education. These bursaries will help our players achieve their post-secondary goals where they can continue to give back within their communities.”
All applicants must adhere to the following guidelines:
Candidates must complete the application form and submit it to the OMHA by 5:00 pm on November 30th, 2019. Each application will be reviewed by a panel for a period of four to six weeks. Only the winning recipient(s) will be contacted by the OMHA no later than seven weeks after the application is submitted. The successful applicant(s) will be asked to attend the Ontario Minor Hockey Association's Annual General Meeting on June 12th for a presentation.
