Spots Still Available for Coaches to Register for Clinics

Make sure you have your qualifications for the season

If you're coaching a team this season, please ensure you have the proper qualifications to be behind the bench. There are still a number of upcoming clinics that have room for registration.

You must complete your Hockey University *HU - ONLINE Coach 1 / 2 component before being eligible for a Coach 1 or Coach 2 in-person clinic. Hockey University is a four hour online course that must be completed before you can register for these in-person clinics. A link to the Hockey University online component will be provided once registration for it is complete. This course is a new, interactive online platform that will form part of a blended learning approach for entry-level clinics for Coach education.

Hockey University - ONLINE Coach 1/Coach 2

Coaches can use clinics to improve their skillsets and learn new techniques while getting their qualification which makes them eligible to lead their team behind the bench. Step onto the ice and help your players have fun playing the sport we love.

Coach 1 or Coach 2 in-person clinics are typically one-day courses offered on weekends. It is comprised of four hours of in-class learning and a two hour on-ice session. They are taught by coach instructors with years of hockey experience.

This Coach 1 - Intro to Coach clinic is tailored for the coach who will be coaching Initiation, Minor Novice or Novice.

The Coach 2 - Coach Level Clinic focuses on getting your players moving in the right way and enjoying themselves while introducing them to the sport of hockey. You will also learn the fundamentals of fitness and how to be a positive role model to your athletes.

In the program, coaches will learn about player development and using basic technical skills to grow their games. Using Hockey Canada resources to plan on and off-ice activities, coaches will be trained on how to be an effective communicator. Age-appropriate and fun practice drills will also be taught.

For those working with Representative players aged Minor Peewee and above, the NCCP Development 1 Clinic teaches you to motivate and lead your athletes as they move into a competitive environment. Build age-appropriate and competition specific practice plans while you give your players a solid understanding of the skills and strategies they will need to compete. You will also learn to analyze your players’ abilities to ensure that they’re equipped, both mentally and physically, for a more intense level of play.
