The first challenge in the OMHA Players Club is the 5000 Puck Challenge. Shooting one hundred pucks a day, five days a week for ten weeks will help you develop your shooting & scoring skills at home.

The GOAL: Increase shot speed, quickness and accuracy
The PLAN: Shoot 5000 pucks in 10 weeks.
WEEKLY GOAL: 500 shots per week
DAILY GOAL: 100 shots per day (5 days per week)

10,000 Touches | Winter

We have created a plan for players of all ages and abilities to follow over 8 weeks to accomplish this goal.

The GOAL: Improved puck control skills through increased hand speed, quickness & coordination
The PLAN: Develop stickhandling skills performing a minimum of 10,000 touches
WEEKLY GOAL: 5 days per week | 75-150 minutes per week
DAILY GOAL:15-30 minutes per day

The Power Hour | Spring

This Spring the OMHA will provide Players Club members with an at-home hockey development program that will develop your skills and athletic ability.

The POWER Hour will provide a weekly plan including elements of stickhandling and passing from 10,000 Touches and shooting and scoring skills from the 5000 Puck Challenge along with an age-appropriate off-ice dryland training program including drills to improve your speed, agility, quickness and power.

Related Programs | National Skills Standards & Testing

Hockey Canada and the OMHA believe in celebrating skill achievement. In Canadian minor hockey, coaches should be encouraged to foster the development of the fundamental skills required to play the game at the minor levels by measuring and providing positive individual feedback on skill development. It is essential that minor hockey associations and parents have a method of measuring success beyond wins and losses

The National Skills Standards & Testing (NSST) is a series of six (6) individual skill tests for Players and three (3) for Goaltenders have been designed to measure the skill level of players. These tests can be administered by team coaches requiring very little equipment, expense and set up time.
