In operation since 1995, the school program now encompasses three (3) locations across the OMHA: WEST - Windsor; CENTRAL - Guelph and; EAST - Trenton
The extremely successful and popular school format provides NEW officials with methods and procedures of officiating in both the 2 and 3 official systems. They will also instruct uniform interpretation of the rules while teaching effective communication strategies and techniques. By completing the weekend, students will acquire officiating skills and rule knowledge while completing OMHA and Hockey Canada certification requirements for the upcoming season.
The weekend will include an intensive, action packed agenda which will include three classroom instructional sessions, two on-ice training sessions and a final written certification exam.
The schools have grown to the point where they now attract officials from across the province.
The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and Force Sports, sponsor of the OMHA Referee Program, will once again host three centralized Referee Schools to train and mentor new officials in the fall of 2016.
The schools will run the weekend of September 23-25 in Trenton, Guelph and Windsor.
Information specific to each School location is listed below along with School Registrar contact information.
NOTE: For new Officials or those interested in getting started - contact your local Minor Hockey Association to confirm a need for new officials, when games will take place & how this fits your schedule.
Details for the 2017 OMHA Referee Schools will be released June 2017
