The CCM Drill of the Month for February is the Stickhandling in Stride.

Practice controlling the puck while in motion.

1. For this drill, you will be moving forward mimicking a skating stride.

2. Start with the puck in front of you, make sure you have a good knee bend, balance and stickhandle.

3. Take a few strides hopping, as if to mimic your stride and end with an in tight shot.

This drill helps players work on their puck control and hand-eye coordination. Being able to shoot the puck while still moving is key in building a complete player. Getting comfortable on the ice balancing on one foot while also in a shooting motion will boost your offensive game.

Maintaining possession of the puck while moving in different directions increases your options of what you can do with the puck. Stickhandling your way out of situations and turning a potential turnover into a pass to a teammate or a shot on net increases the difficulty of defending a player.
