Minor Midget AAA Rankings

The Rangers continue their winning ways, picking up three wins in the last two weeks. The Jr. Colts keep rolling with a strong offensive showing. The North Stars make their move, securing the third spot with three wins of their own while the Express battled for a pair of ties which drops them down to the fourth spot. The Jr. Gryphons are keeping pace but a number of teams are biting on their heels to crack the top five.

Players to Watch

James Hardie (Barrie Jr. Colts) - Do not give him any room to shoot, or he will make you pay. Hardie possesses an elite shot that he gets off quickly and accurately. Combine this with great positional awareness and an ability to create space, and that makes him one of the best scorers this year. He knows how to read situations and teammates in offensive zone well, allowing him find the soft areas that make him dangerous. Hardie also has the ability to gain the offensive zone off the rush where he can rely on his stick-handling ability to open up a shooting lane.

Ryan Mansfield (Burlington Eagles) - He is a player that plays a 200 foot game. He has become the catalyst for Burlington's offence through hard-work and having a nose for the net. There is no place on the ice that Mansfield is scared to go. He has shown a willingness to battle in corners and in front of the net, and for this he gets rewarded as he often comes up with the puck. From here he has the play-making ability and vision to create a scoring chance. He knows how to get pucks to the net and has a sneaky release when given the space.

Midget AAA Rankings

The teams remain as competitive as ever with a few games having a big effect on the rankings. The North Stars secured three wins and a tie, vaulting them to the top spot. The Rangers keep rolling while the Wolves fall two spots after a pair of losses.

Players to Watch

Damon Beaver (Whitby Wildcats) - Beaver has been a rock in the Wildcats net so far this season. With one of the top GAA’s in his league, Beaver has helped the defending OMHA champions stay near the top of their division for the entire season to date. The agile goalie is resilient and always seems to set himself up to make the second or third save in a sequence. Beaver has shown the ability to stop pucks he sees and has forced opponents to create traffic in front of him in order get the puck past him.

Liam Galton (Grey-Bruce Highlanders) - Galton is a big, strong forward who is noticed by everyone in the building on his first shift. He is a player who plays with a physical edge and loves to play in the physical areas. Galton plays tough in his own end, is very strong playing along the boards and turns a strong defensive game into offensive opportunities.
