The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released the first edition of the Minor Midget AAA Top 5 Rankings Powered by Under Armour for the 2017-2018 regular season. These rankings will be released on a bi-weekly schedule. The opening Midget rankings will be revealed in the next edition.

With a new season now kicking off, here's where teams stand entering the opening week of play.

Minor Midget AAA Rankings

Rank Team Record
1 Oakville Rangers 0-0-0
2 York-Simcoe Express 0-0-0
3 Niagara North Stars 0-0-0
4 Barrie Jr. Colts 0-0-0
5 Peterborough Minor Petes 0-0-0

Players to Watch

Jake Murray (Oakville Rangers) - A composed defender who can play in any situation. His skating is an asset as he is able to carry the puck out of trouble or jump into a rush to be an option for his forwards. When he is in the offensive zone, other teams will have to keep an eye on where he is as he likes to move into areas to become a passing outlet or to unleash his shot. Defensively his positional play is very good, being hard to beat out of the corner or off the rush. He will be relied upon this year to play big minutes and lead a very skilled Oakville group into a top spot in the SCTA.

Cameron Snow (Barrie Jr. Colts) - Having the puck on Snow's stick is where he likes it and this causes a lot of trouble for opposing teams. The puck seems to follow him and this makes him a catalyst for Barrie's offence. His vision, coupled with his agility, allows him to be a smart play-maker where he can gain the space needed to find his teammates. Although Snow is a smaller player, his game is big. He plays feisty and he welcomes battles for loose pucks, often coming out with the puck on his stick. Snow strengthens any line he is on and will be one to watch this year.
