A new look and a new direction for the Ontario Minor Hockey Association was announced at the 2017 Annual General Meeting. The new set of values, mission and vision will dictate the path for the organization and will ensure that hockey remains the sport of choice for Ontario’s youth.

Over the past season, Brandfire Marketing Group was tasked to audit the brand and values of the organization to align it with the current landscape of the sport and build a plan to grow the game at the grassroots level.

Working together with the Board of Directors, Staff, Minor Hockey Association volunteers, parents, other hockey organizations and sponsors, the new vision to be leaders in community sport highlight the OMHA's purpose to create the best minor hockey experience in Canada, doing  everything for the betterment of the game, creating better people and stronger communities. 

From small towns to large urban centres, from learning to play to the Program of Excellence, these wide-ranging experiences prove that hockey is a game for everyone.

“We are an organization with a long history and a rich legacy, however, we need to continue to look ahead and position ourselves for the future,” said Ian Taylor, OMHA Executive Director. “We continue to provide world-class development programs, providing age-appropriate programming through the Long-Term Player Development model. The move to Cross-Ice and Half-Ice hockey for players six and under is a great example of this mindset.”

The organization is committed to ensuring a safe, enjoyable environment of shared respect in our game. We must all strive to be the leaders in community sport.

“We believe that we must return to the sustainable values that community sport, and specifically hockey, provide – and we need to communicate it – Leadership, Teamwork, Respect – life skills,” said OMHA President Rob Ring.

We work in partnership with Hockey Canada, our leagues and local minor hockey associations to create Canada’s best minor hockey experience and grow the game. We must lead and administer the sport with a service focused mindset and a compassion for everyone who gives their time.

In serving our hockey community of more than 100,000 players in 225 local minor hockey associations, we oversee important issues and do so with honesty, integrity and openness in the best interest of our game.
