Playdowns are happening all across the OMHA and every bracket is in a different stage. It’s been another exciting year of Playdowns hockey where anything has proven to be possible. There are plenty of OMHA teams to keep an eye on across the province and are just some of our CCM #MadeForHockey Teams to Watch in Playdowns.
The Predators are a streaky group but were one of the highest scoring teams in their league during the regular season. They’ve done a good job of translating that into Playdowns success so far and are one win away from advancing. Port Perry will be looking to ride this momentum for the rest of their Playdowns run.
One of the top teams all season, the Flyers have used a strong defence to fuel their Playdowns run. They are able to build healthy leads in games and then lock down defensively to get the win. Orangeville needs to make sure they don’t get ahead of themselves and underestimate their opponents or they could find themselves on the outside looking in.
It’s always a positive for a team to have the ability to win close games more often than not and that’s exactly what the Bears have shown. They consistently stay in almost every game and their matchup against Collingwood has proven no different, with each game being a one-goal affair. This uncanny trait could be the key to Playdowns success for the Bears.
The Hawks have continued their regular season success in Playdowns, posting two consecutive shutouts to open up their quarterfinal matchup. They have the rare ability to keep other teams in check while still playing their own game at the same time. Tweed can bounce back from losses very quick and that will only help them if they find themselves in trouble during Playdowns.
The Islanders have used the momentum of their winner-take-all victory in the preliminaries to keep every battle exciting. Gananoque can win games that are close or quickly jump out to big leads. Their ability to stay in every game will be beneficial moving forward.
