Final edition of the power rankings powered by Under Armour

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released the eleventh and final edition of the Minor Midget & Midget AAA Top 5 Rankings Powered by Under Armour for the 2016-2017 regular season.

The SCTA is wrapping up the regular season while the ETA kicks off Playdowns. Here were the tenth edition of the rankings.

Minor Midget AAA Rankings

Rank Team Previous Rank Weeks Ranked
1 Whitby Wildcats (31-3-2) 4 11
2 Quinte Red Devils (28-5-3) 3 9
3 Brampton 45's (27-5-3) 1 9
4 Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs (27-5-2) 2 10
5 York-Simcoe Express (27-6-1) 5 6

Players to Watch

Carson Eden (Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs) - A ball of energy all over the rink. The Bulldogs missed his presence when he was out with injury. He has that next gear that gives him the ability to take defenders wide and always goes right to the net. At his best when he plays with an edge, has a nice finesse game to go with it. Opposing teams always know when he's on the ice.

Emmet Pierce (Quinte Red Devils) - At 6'5", he's almost impossible to contain. Mix in the magical hands he has and you have a deadly combination. Another player who can play on the line and back off defenders with his physical play. Creates time and space for himself and teammates. Very good at getting to those soft scoring areas.

Midget AAA Rankings

Rank Team Previous Rank Weeks Ranked
1 Clarington Toros (25-4-2) 2 11
2 Oakville Rangers (30-0-1) 1 11
3 Markham Waxers (24-2-4) 3 10
4 Ajax-Pickering Raiders (16-8-4) - 6
5 Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs (16-10-4) - 1

Players to Watch

Connor Gregga (Markham Waxers) - Gregga has emerged as one of the most physically dominant players in the ETA this season. Not only can Gregga score goals, he seems to be the physical spark plug for the Waxers for the 2016-2017 season. Gregga does not take shifts off, and is noticed by the opposition every time he is on the ice; whether for his offensive play or physical nature.

Jarred Hill (Hamilton Bulldogs) - Hill is the catalyst for the Bulldogs' extremely successful second half of the season. The offensively gifted forward has a knack for scoring goals and finds himself in the right situations game in and game out. Hill has speed to attack the opposition and create offense in any situation. He excels on a very strong Bulldogs power play which has the SCTA mindful about giving the Bulldogs multiple chances with the man advantage, knowing with one shift that Hill can change any game.
