The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released the eighth edition of the Minor Midget & Midget AAA Top 5 Rankings Powered by Under Armour for the 2016-2017 regular season. These rankings will be released on a bi-weekly schedule.
With one of the AAA Showcases now in the books, teams are gearing up for the second half of the season. Here were the seventh edition of the rankings.

5 | Halton Hurricanes (17-6-1) | - | 2 |
Jacob Coulson (Brampton 45's) - A shifty pivot who gets involved on both ends of the ice. Coulson sees the ice well and has that extra separation gear to get away from defenders. He has picked up his game in the last month and usually has a direct impact on the outcome of the games.
Charlie Dafonseca (Markham Waxers) - Dafonesca gets in on most of the Waxers offence and one thing you notice is his feet don't stop moving. He has good vision and is able to back defencemen off with this speed. The forward likes to use the half wall to find teammates on the powerplay. Lots of energy.
Rank | Team | Previous Rank | Weeks Ranked |

2 | Markham Waxers (19-2-2) | 1 | 7 |

4 | Central Ontario Wolves (15-5-3) | 4 | 7 |
5 | Ajax-Pickering Raiders (13-4-4) | 5 | 4 |
Colin Eastman (Buffalo Regals) - The Regals defenceman has taken the SCTA by storm and has turned a lot of heads over the last month. Eastman establishes a physical tone early every game and makes the opposition aware when he is on the ice. Eastman does not stop at physical play though, he also produces offensively and is a great puck moving defenseman.
Blake Curran (Peterborough Minor Petes) - A top goalie in the ETA for the first half of this season and gives the Petes a chance to compete every night. Curran excels at not only making the first save, but setting himself up to make the second save should there be a rebound. The Petes have played some impressive games this season, and will look for Curran to have a strong start to the New Year in order help the Petes climb the standings.
