Stories from across the OMHA presented by Dodge

Every year many teams share with us their amazing stories of giving back to the community from across the OMHA. Whether it's collecting food donations for local shelters or raising money for a sick teammate, the OMHA is proud of the efforts of all of our teams for knowing the values of respect and community.

Below are just some of the submissions we have received from early in the hockey season.

Get involved in the community and share your experiences with us! You can submit your team's story and picture using the form at the bottom of the page.

Whitby Wildcats Novice A Blue

These eight-year-old boys wanted to give back in the community and decided to assist a local shelter called Herizon House, a shelter for abused women and their children. The boys and their families were able to collect over 30 garbage bags of clothing. Two of the shelter representatives filled up both of their vans with these donations. With so many donations Herizon will be able to share some of the donations with three other shelters.

Lucknow Sepoys Peewee Rep

The Lucknow community celebrated the life of Brandon Metske through hockey in a memorial tournament. Over 180 players from 12 Atom to Midget teams participated. The event was organized by Brandon’s coach with a number of other parents and everyone was amazed by the turnout. There was a potluck dinner to feed everyone who attended and the community came through for one of their own.

Southern Tier Admirals Minor Atom AAA

The Admirals hosted a team from Buffalo on a special night in October that honoured eight-year-old Tristan Romeo for his courage in his fight with brain cancer. All proceeds from the game went towards Tristan to make a wish of his come true.
