A hypothetical look at an All-Ontario World Cup team

Every time an international hockey tournament rolls around, one of the biggest debates among fans is who was left off of the team that deserved a spot. Playing the ‘what if’ game is always popular in trying to decide which players can possibly change a team’s fate. When the NHL announced the World Cup of Hockey was returning, fans across the country got excited with anticipation of who would be named to the team.

It’s no secret that Ontario remains a powerhouse hockey province in Canada. For fun, we decided to put together a hypothetical roster of what Team Ontario would look like. It is comprised of players that are not members of Team Canada or Team North America (including those that withdrew due to injury). Already, 12 members of Team Canada are from Ontario while four on Team North America come from the province.

The OMHA would like to congratulate and wish good luck to its grads participating in the World Cup: Corey Perry (Peterborough Jr. Petes), Matt Duchene (Central Ontario Wolves), Logan Couture (Lucan Irish), Joe Thornton (St. Thomas Travelers) and Steven Stamkos (Markham Waxers).

How would this team stack up against the rest of the World Cup? Think we left anyone out? Vote in the poll at the bottom of the page or tweet us to let us know!
