The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), in conjunction with the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), are pleased to announce the dates for the 2016 Under-15 Program of Excellence Development Camps. In total, five camps will take place around Ontario, introducing young players – and their families – to the high performance stream.
Kitchener and Toronto will host camps from April 29-May 1 while Windsor and Oshawa will have the U-15 program from May 13-15. Sudbury will host the final camp August 5-7.
“Canada and Ontario’s success on the world hockey stage is largely due to the tremendous teamwork not only on the ice, but off the ice. We are extremely pleased to once again partner with the Ontario Hockey Federation for the ninth consecutive year to provide the Under-15 Program of Excellence in 2016,” stated David Branch, OHL Commissioner.
The goal of each U-15 camp is to introduce players, families and staff to high performance hockey, the Program of Excellence and the Ontario Hockey League. It is designed to inform and educate all participants, while also creating a unique and special experience, both on and off the ice.
“While the on-ice component is essential to the program, the most enlightening part of the weekend actually happens in the classrooms” said Tony Foresi, OHF President. “Courses on nutrition, fitness, player psychology and mental health will teach these young athletes just how important it is to remain equally, if not more, focused on overall well-being and hockey skills.”
“Given the outstanding success in the first eight years of the Under-15 Program, we are most pleased to see the continued growth of the U15 Program for the benefit of OHF players, coaches, trainers and families in providing a first class development opportunity, both on and off the ice,” said Branch.
