Skating Symposium Day Announced

The OMHA is pleased to announce details regarding our 6th Annual Coaches Symposium Series.

The symposium series will engage the participant through classroom and on-ice sessions providing coaches with specific and practical information that they can implement with their respective teams. In addition, each symposium features prominent guest speakers discussing their own area of expertise.

Skating will be the topic of our third symposium and will take place on Saturday, August 29th at the Pyramid Centre in St. Marys, ON. The OMHA hosted two symposiums earlier this year – Goaltending in Niagara Falls, ON and Developing Defensemen in Brampton, ON.

The 2015 OMHA Skating Symposium will include the new Hockey Canada  - Skating Level  1 Instructional Stream course and feature guest speaker, Kathy Jankowski-Slegers , Professional Skating Coach with Skate Canada-Western Ontario.

Efficient and effective skating is the foundation for all other hockey skills. Skating ability is directly related to puck control, shooting, and checking, and improving a player’s skating ability works towards improving all aspects of his/her game and greatly enhance their enjoyment of the game.

The new Hockey Canada Developing Defensemen - Level 1 Instructional Stream course will includes: Balance & Agility; Edge Control; Striding; Backward Skating; Turning & Crossovers
