2015 OHF Award Winners Announced

The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) honoured ten (10) community leaders from across the Branch during the awards banquet Saturday night, held as part of the governing body’s Awards Weekend at the Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls – Fallsview in Niagara Falls, Ontario. OMHA Vice-President, Bill Leask was presented with the Order of Merit while Joe Bentolila of Aurora Minor Hockey was awarded the Volunteer of the Year.

Bill has a varied and lengthy involvement not only in hockey, but also in community sport and professionally. Bill has been an instrumental part of his community as a volunteer coach, manager, Executive Member, and Commissioner in Softball, Baseball, Football and Hockey since 1964.  During his tenure on the OMHA Board, Bill has earned a well-deserved reputation for honesty, fairness, and his quiet leadership has been repeatedly acknowledged among all of his constituent Member Associations.  Bill always strives to make decisions that are in the best interest of players, volunteers and the game of hockey.

Joe Bentolila has held various positions in his local minor hockey organization over the past 15 years. Joe was elected as the President of the Aurora Minor Hockey Association in 2003 and has held the reins of the organization ever since. Under Joe's leadership Aurora Minor Hockey sponsors various charity events to grow minor hockey as well as his community as a whole. Joe has added "President" of the York Simcoe Minor Hockey League to his volunteer portfolio and helped with the conception and implementation of the Lakeshore/York Simcoe Challenge, a year end competition between all category and division winners of the Lakeshore Minor Hockey Association and the York Simcoe Minor Hockey League.
