The OMHA is pleased to announce details regarding 6th Annual OMHA Coaches Symposium Series. Goaltending will be the focus of the first symposium, taking place on May 30th at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The symposium series will engage the participant through classroom and on-ice sessions, providing coaches with specific and practical information that they can implement with their respective teams. In addition, each symposium features prominent guest speakers discussing their own area of expertise.
The 2015 OMHA Goaltending Symposium will include the new Hockey Canada Goaltending 1 Instructional Stream course and feature guest speaker, Rick Wamsley, Goaltending Coach of the Ottawa Senators, who will discuss the changes in the position of goaltender.
The new Hockey Canada Goaltending 1 Instructional Stream course will provide minor hockey coaches the foundation of technical skills including skating, stance, moving, positioning, save selection and basic puck control. Along with the technical aspect of goaltending, coaches will be introduced to the effective use of goalies in practice, communication and specific goalie drills.
